Description:
The Bachelor of Technology Degree in Manufacturing is designed to
provide the graduate with the knowledge required by employers in
the manufacturing sector. The students will receive a thorough grounding
in mathematics, force and energy systems; CAD drafting and design,
mechanical analysis, thermodynamics, machine design, physical metallurgy,
fluid power and HVAC systems. These latter subjects are more directly
applicable to industry. Theory presented in lectures is directly
applied in problem solving sessions, computer aided design and manufacturing.
Students who complete the BTech Manufacturing degree will be well
versed in the areas of manufacturing standards, statistical process
control, quality control, manufacturing cost control, and Lean Manufacturing
techniques – all areas of knowledge demanded by employers
in the manufacturing sector.
After the successful
completion of the first 2 years (co-op or non co-op), students are
eligible to graduate with a Mechanical Engineering Technology diploma.
Those students wishing to complete the degree phase will have 1
additional year of student and will receive a Bachelor of Technology
degree in Manufacturing.
Students
from other institutions with a suitable Engineering Technology diploma
may complete the degree within one year.
