The Main Event of PierScape'98 will be a juried art exhibit at Whitney Pier Memorial Junior High School gymnasium. There will be over 90 pieces in this exhibit featuring artists from Newfoundland to Ontario. It is important to note that fees to juried artists are as per Canadian Artists Representation guidelines, thus encouraging the arts as economic and community development. The Artists' Committee of the Festival will also present a non-juried exhibit in the entrance of the school. Other activities during the Festival include art and crafts workshops, literary and musical events, tours, and opportunities for involvement of local businesses. A special focus of the Festival is youth involvement, featuring activities such as workshops promoting careers in the arts. Whitney Pier boasts many recognized artists whose exhibits at the Whitney Pier Historical Society Museum during the summer months have drawn significant attention from both residents and visitors.

Whitney Pier Memorial Junior High School will not only host the Visual Art Exhibits, but has also, with the assistance of Local Business person John Morrison, established a Camera Club which is planning to exhibit during the Festival. The Festival played a role in the school's successful submission to the ARTSinFUSION Program which will result in the hiring of local artists to work in school arts programs. The local elementary schools have taken part in poster art production to be exhibited during the Festival.
