Another story (in two parts)
Part 1
-All matter, as well as space and light, originated 13 billion years ago from a incredibly small and compressed unit of physical substance -this physical substance expanded, ultimately resulting in all the stars, planets, rocks, plants and animals, including humans, that we now observe in the world -light consists of invisible wave packets that radiate from matter when sub-atomic particles change position within atoms -when these invisible wave packets hit the eyes of living organisms light is experienced -the light varies in colour depending on the wave length of the wave packets (called photons) that hit a given organism's eyes, as well as the physical structure of the organism's eyes and brain
Part 2:
-All animals we observe today likely evolved from a common single living cell that itself resulted from the chance combination of non-living chemicals -the different species evolved through natural selection -many of the traits of each animal are explainable through their function, adaptation and genetics --this is true of the cleft lips of rabbits and seals (the cleft lips perform a function -because rabbits and seals share this trait, it doesn't mean they are are descended from a common species -the difference between analogous traits and homologous traits analogous: wings on butterflies, birds, and bats: serve same function but they developed independently of each other. This is true regarding the eye as well in many species homologous: traits that may serve a different function, but originated from common ancestor species e.g. bat wing, human hand, and a whale's fin: all three organism are mammals that shared a common evolutionary ancestor
