Welcome to my web-page. Students in my courses can find information by clicking the appropriate link on the left.  For those interested in my background and research interests, you can click on my CV. I graduated from the University of Waterloo in 1991 with my Ph.D. in Philosophy. My dissertation, Poetry and Politics: The Influence of Aesthetics in the Thought of John Stuart Mill,  focused on the ways in which Romanticism influenced Mill's mature work in ethics and political philosophy as well as his view of the social sciences. My research is a bit eclectic but I concentrate mostly in applied philosophy, particularly in bioethics and the construction of disease, philosophy and literature, and philosophy of love and sex. Please contact me either by phone or by email if you need further information or have any questions.
